ONE ACT OPEN PLAY FESTIVAL 5TH AND 6TH March 2010

Dear Colleague
I am writing to advise of the exciting news that plans are now afoot to resurrect the staging of the NANDA One Act Open Play Festival in 2010. The event will be staged on the evening of Friday 5th March 2010 commencing at 7- 00pm and the afternoon and evening of Saturday 6th March at 2.00pm and 7.00pm. The Festival which is open to non NANDA members will be held at the Chilwell Olympia Theatre Chilwell Nottingham.

We have been privileged to obtain the services of JILL GAUTRY as our adjudicator who having served as a leading drama educationalist has in recent years proved a popular adjudicator at the NANDA Play of the Year competition and our Youth Festival. We look forward to her seasoned judgements.

This letter forms the first part of our major campaign to re-launch this Festival in the firm belief of the value of the "one act" to provide opportunities for development, greater member participation, training and the exercise of an all too often neglected art form. In addition to these major incentives 2010 will see the staging in June of the All England Theatre Festival

National Final in the Midlands. The winning play of this Festival will be eligible to compete in the AETF Regional Final and the subsequent English National Final which in 2010 is to be held at Burton on Trent.

The cost of Group participation in this Festival has been set at £50 per group and in order to encourage Groups to enhance audience attendance the fee is inclusive of ten free tickets (NANDA members 12) to one of the Festival sessions. Additional tickets can be pre purchased for other sessions at £3 compared to the day admission of £5 per session.

I would particularly draw your attention to the following enclosures
. A copy of the rules to be adopted for use at the Festival together with a list of Trophies to be awarded at the Festival
. A Festival entry application form for completion by your Group.
. Request slip for One Act Play presentation to your Group.
In respect to the latter concerning the One Act Play presentation I, together with members of the organising team, would, should you request it, welcome the opportunity of attending a future meeting of your Group Committee to explain and encourage participation in this Festival.
